National Cadet Corps

Established in May 1966, Hwa Chong Institution National Cadet Corps (HCINCC) is one of the premier National Cadet Corps (NCC) units in Singapore. HCINCC is recognised as one of the top units in Singapore in terms of accolades and discipline. Renowned for being among the few NCC units to be awarded the title of “Centre of Excellence” in Precision Drill Squad (PDS), HCINCC is also the only NCC unit to have won the national PDS competition for 3 consecutive years.

The wide-ranging military-related activities allow our cadets to develop themselves holistically and provides a glimpse of military life.  We place great emphasis on the bonds forged amongst cadets, through their combined experiences of training and tenure as Non-Commissioned Officers, making their NCC experience a unique and valuable one.

National Police Cadet Corps

Since its establishment in 1966, Hwa Chong Institution's National Police Cadet Corps (NPCC) has consistently distinguished itself amongst the other Units in Singapore through outstanding achievements and leadership development. Most notably, it has been awarded Distinction in the Unit Overall Proficiency Award (UOPA) for 28 consecutive years since the award's inception in 1994—a feat unmatched by any other unit. The unit's commitment to excellence is further exemplified by its recent stellar achievements in Inter-Unit competitions, such as the 2023 and 2024 Inter-Unit .22 Revolver Shooting Competitions and the 2024 Inter-Unit Drill Competition.

Through their four-year journey, cadets undergo a holistic curriculum that equips them with valuable competencies extending beyond their secondary school years. They will get to dabble in shooting and campcraft, learn about drill movements and basic first aid, while collaborating with Units in the Area and the Singapore Police Force on community initiatives. These varied experiences shape our cadets into capable leaders who make meaningful contributions both in school and in the wider community.

Scouts

With its existence dating back to the establishment of this school, The Hwa Chong Scouts Troop is more than a century old, celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2019. We perform various types of activities ranging from field cooking, pioneering to first aid.

Hwa Chong Scouts also have been invited to campfires organised by many other troops such as Catholic High’s, Zhong Hua’s,  and Raffles Institution’s.  We also attend overseas events, such as the 2020 7th ASEAN Jamboree held online.

Regardless of pandemics or any hardships we may face, Scouting will continue as we are prepared for any adversity.

St John Brigade Singapore

Founded in 1966, the Hwa Chong Institution Corps is one of the oldest and most established St John Brigade units in Singapore. Our members train twice a week, acquiring essential first aid skills and knowledge rarely found outside of uniformed groups. These skills are put into practice at major national events such as Chingay and the National Day Parade, where our members serve competently as First Aiders.

Beyond first aid, our training programme includes a range of activities—such as sports and team-building sessions—designed to foster camaraderie, develop leadership, and ensure that members find joy and purpose in their CCA experience.

Our consistent success in the District and National First Aid Competitions, where we have emerged champions almost every year, stands as a testament to our dedication and excellence. Remarkably, we are also one of the few Corps in Singapore to have received the Gold Corps Achievement Award for over two consecutive decades.
