Chinese Oratorical Society

The Hwa Chong Chinese Oratorical Society is a vibrant and supportive community dedicated to nurturing students' oratorical potential through diverse and engaging platforms. Members are immersed in a wide spectrum of activities, including news presentation, talk shows, debate training, emceeing workshops, and multimedia production. Through these experiences, students acquire key 21st-century competencies such as critical and inventive thinking, effective communication, and cross-cultural awareness. They learn to express their ideas clearly, respond thoughtfully to diverse viewpoints, and navigate complex real-world issues with confidence and sensitivity. Content created by members is regularly featured on the Society’s official Instagram account, HC WOW(华奥), providing an authentic and dynamic platform for students to showcase their talents, amplify their voices, and engage meaningfully with the broader community. In doing so, the Oratorical Society empowers students to become articulate, reflective, and culturally rooted youth leaders equipped for the challenges of a globalised future.

Under the care and guidance of our dedicated teachers and experienced coaches, we strive to hone our individual debating style and technique, and we work together to bring pride to the school. Indeed over the years, we have come to be regarded as one of the top schools in the National Schools debating scene.

Infocomm & Robotics Society

The Hwa Chong InfoComm Club is the premier proving ground for young minds leading tomorrow’s tech landscape. It comprises two sections—Robotics and EC3—which train members in robotics engineering and software development, respectively. With innovation, creativity, and dedication, the club has achieved outstanding accomplishments, including representing Singapore in prestigious international competitions like the World Robotics Olympiad, VEX Robotics Competition, and RoboCup, as well as nurturing students who later participated in the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI). Additionally, the club is heavily involved in local software development competitions and school IT commissions. Members spend CCA time working on projects or preparing for competitions, embodying self-initiated, self-directed learning with a strong emphasis on hands-on experience, driven by both passion and discipline.

International Chess

The Hwa Chong International Chess Club (IChess) stands proudly among the top international school chess teams in Singapore.

More than just competitors, our members are strategists and thinkers—warriors of the 64 squares—who constantly challenge themselves against top talents both locally and overseas. From Hanoi to Shenzhen, Budapest to Singapore, our players have carried the IChess name with pride, competing in renowned tournaments and earning accolades along the way.

Our mission goes beyond trophies. Each year, IChess members give back to the school community by conducting two sabbatical programmes designed to introduce chess to fellow students. These sessions do not just teach the game—they nurture strategic thinking, patience, and resilience, values that prepare our peers for challenges both on and off the board.

For the International Chess Club, every move is a step forward. Every game is a lesson in growth. And every member is part of a legacy that continues to shape minds and inspire excellence.

Library

Ever wondered what keeps a library alive beyond its shelves of books? It's us - the Hwa Chong Library Council! As the reading ambassadors of HCI, we play a vital role in promoting a love for literature while maintaining the school library. Beyond that, we also organise engaging activities such as Library Week and Light Up With Literature, promoting a more vibrant and enthusiastic reading culture within our school.

Every month, our CCA curates unique book displays and produces engaging posts to share book recommendations, update the student population on current news etc. Additionally, we collaborate with Jurong Regional Library to give back to the community. As a competitive and dynamic CCA, we are always seeking innovative ways to evolve and inspire.

Media Tech

The HcI Media Tech Club dabbles in photography, videography and audio-visual services. We believe in serving the school, helping out behind the scenes during events and making sure everything is up and running smoothly.

We find ways and means to further our craft. In a way, Media Tech is like a storytelling club. Through film and media, we have opportunities to marry ideas and images together. Embedded in every photo and video, is a memory, a certain beauty of life captured.

What we do, is a way of expressing, of connecting, of loving.

We serve, we create, and we love.
